Why Are There Bubbles in Dried Epoxy?

How to Fix Bubbles in Dried Epoxy

Although bubbles occur in dried epoxy, you can fix them with a simple sanding and a few processes. Here is what you need to do to fix the bubbles in the dried epoxy.

  1. Sand Out the bubbles

Wear a mask and sand out the entire surface of your piece, paying close attention to the bubbles. The purpose of sanding is to create a fresh layout that can easily absorb any fresh epoxy you may want to re-apply. Hence, you must sand the whole piece using sandpaper such as 80 grit sandpaper. Although your piece will look scratched after the sanding, you don’t have to worry about it.

  1. Wipe Away the Sanding Dust

You can use a damp paper towel to wipe off the sanding residue. Wipe out as many times as possible to clean the surface. Ensure you wipe off any residue before you pour the fresh epoxy. You can also use a can of compressed air to get the dust out of any nooks and crannies of the piece.

  1. Pour a Fresh Epoxy

After wiping is completed, you can now pour a fresh epoxy on the surface. But before that, thoroughly mix the epoxy before you re-apply it to the piece. Spread and torch out any bubble that may appear. Cover the piece for 24 -72 hours to get it. fully cured piece.
